We chatted to Fanta about reprising her role in The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs, which will play at the Kiln Theatre.

Hi Fanta, for those who have yet to see The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs, what can they expect?
Hello!! For those who have yet to see The Ministry of Lesbian Affairs… BRING TISSUES! But also expect to laugh, feel held and have a great old time listening to some cracking tunes.
How does it feel to be reprising your role as Ellie?
Honestly, I feel on top of the world to be reprising the role of Ellie! She means so much to me, as does the play and cast, it’s very much a full circle moment. Especially to be working with Hannah Hauer-King and Iman Qureshi again that’s just the cherry on the cake.

What stood out for you about the story when you read it?
Iman has a way of making you cry one moment and laughing the next, in just a couple of sentences. It’s so utterly human. I adore the dynamic of choir, they’re so recognisable in our own lives I think, it’s just great!
How has it been working on the production so far?
Dreamy, the cast are breathtaking if I do say so myself, it’s a joy to be in a queer cast, singing, playing, having a laugh, creating what I feel, is an incredibly important part of LGBT theatre, is amazing. Truly.
Why would you encourage people to come and see the show?
It’s a show that is “holding space”, you will feel seen, loved, celebrated especially if you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community, but regardless of that, it’s a show for literally anyone, about a choir who love each other, who are a family and make mistakes, as we all do. It’s heart-warming, hilarious and it’s an opportunity for a great night out! 💓🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
