Illyria is in the midst of a wild festival but amongst the excitement, not everyone wants – or is allowed – to indulge in the celebrations. The lovesick duke, mourning heiress and strait-laced steward to name a few.

Enter shipwrecked, grief-stricken Viola who must learn the rules of this new world – and the complex love tangle she’s thrust into. She soon finds that the lines between self-expression and excess, frivolity and frustration are thin.

In a world where emotions can be as changeable as the weather, will all of Illyria’s residents make it through in one piece?

Talking about the news, Director Robin Belfield says: “It’s a special thing, directing for the Globe Theatre space, so I’m thrilled to be back with Twelfth Night or What You Will alongside an extraordinary cast and creative team. We can’t wait to dive into it and share
Shakespeare’s rich tale of joy and heartbreak, love and loss, with Globe audiences this summer.”

The creative team behind the production includes: designs by Jean Chan, with Phillip J Morris as Assistant Director, Simon Slateras Composer, Paul Benzing as Fight Director, Ingrid Mackinnon as Movement and Intimacy Director, and Ellen
Hartley as Voice and Text.
