NEWS: Susan Sarandon to Star in Mary Page Marlowe at The Old Vic

It has been announced that Old Vic’s artistic director Matthew Warchus will direct the UK premiere of Tracy Letts’ Mary Page Marlowe, which will officially open at the Old Vic Theatre on the 8th October.

In addition, Oscar winner Susan Sarandon, marking her UK theatre debut, and Oscar nominee Andrea Riseborough, returning to the stage for the first time in 15 years are set to star in the production.

The show is a vivid, time-jumping mosaic of one woman’s life, with five performers portray the titular character at different ages. It marks the beginning of Matthew Warchus’s final season as Artistic Director of the Old Vic Theatre.

Talking about the news Warchus said: “I’m delighted to be kicking off my final season at this wonderful theatre with this sensational new play from one of America’s greatest living writers. And what a privilege to be featuring two such superlative actresses, Susan and Andrea, on the Old Vic stage, along with a large cast and creative team abounding with exceptional talent. I’m also really excited to be returning the Old Vic auditorium to perhaps my favourite configuration, and look forward to welcoming audiences to an unforgettable year of fully in-the-round, immersive, 360 degree performances.”

This UK premiere production of the play is set to feature set and costumes by Rob Howell, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker, and casting is by Jim Carnahan. Additional creative team cast members will be announced at a later date.
