A first trailer has been released for Anemone, co-written by Daniel Day-Lewis alongside his son Ronan Day-Lewis (who also directs). The film marks Daniel Day-Lewis’s return to cinema screens for the first time in eight years, following on from 2017’s Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread.

The film also marks the debut feature of Ronan Day-Lewis, who has previously made two short films, in 2016 and 2017.

Anemone is set in Yorkshire in the 1980’s and focuses on the fates of two brothers who served as British paramilitaries in Northern Ireland 20 years before.

The film also stars Sean Bean, Samuel Bottomley, Safia Oakley-Green and Samantha Morton.

It is scheduled to have its world premiere at the 2025 New York Film Festival this September.
