The production will run at the company’s The Other Place in Stratford-upon-Avon from the 9th October until the 6th December.

Complete casting has now been announced for Daniel Raggett’s production of Macbeth, which is set to officially open on the 21st October.
Joining the previously announced Sam Heughan (Outlander, Love Again) making his RSC debut as Macbeth alongside Lia Williams (The Crown, Skylight) as Lady Macbeth will be: Alec Newman as Macduff, Nicholas Karimi as Banquo, and Alison Peebles, Eilidh Fisher and Irene Macdougall as the witches.
The full company Michael Abubakar as Lennox, Gilly Gilchrist as Duncan/Siward, Jamie Marie Leary as Lady Macduff, John McLarnon as Ross, Conor McLeod as Angus, Christopher Patrick Nolan as Priest, and Calum Ross as Malcolm.
During the show’s run there will be bar-style seating for all performances, with additional Saturday evening performances added on the 8th and 22nd November following high demand.
Daniel Raggett returns to the RSC following his production of Edward II earlier this year. He is joined on the creative team by: Anna Reid (set and costume), Ryan Day (lighting), Tingying Dong (sound), Alex Payne (fight direction) and Rebecca Latham (dramaturgy). Casting is by Charlotte Sutton.
Talking about the play Raggett said: “Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a play that needs no introduction. It’s so popular that it feels like it is always being performed somewhere, and probably is. With the RSC’s last production of it only two years ago there’s no reason to revive it unless you’re going to look at it with fresh eyes – and along with this exceptional, almost exclusively Scottish, company that is what I intend to do. The heart of theatre is its liveness and nowhere will this be more true than in the incredible intimacy of The Other Place. Whether you know it, or are new to it, it’ll be sure to hold a few surprises.”
