While traditionally seen as something as only those of an old generation tend to go on, cruises are actually a wonderful way to travel – no matter what age you are. Here’s our top reasons why you should consider a cruise for your next holiday.

The variety of places that you get to visit in one trip: one of the main joys of travelling via a cruise is the idea of going to sleep in one place and then pulling back the curtains in your cabin to a completely different part of the world! Depending on the length of the cruise that you opt for (personally I think a two week one is my limit), it gives you the opportunity to sample different cultures and actually help you plan future trips if you want to stay somewhere for longer.
It is an easy and convenient way to travel: if you ever find that travelling can be a stressful part of a holiday, then cruises take that stress away – particularly if you opt for a fly-cruise (I have yet to jump on board a ship directly from Southampton…maybe next time!) in which you are taken directly to the ship and you don’t have to worry about your luggage which is taken to the ship and delivered to your room for you. If you opt to do a cruise that offers an opportunity to stay over in a hotel before jumping on board the ship then it does work differently – but even then a transfer to the ship can be offered as part of your package. Stress – what stress?
Ideal for solo travellers: if you are anything like me and the idea of solo travelling is something that appeals to you but the idea of back packing is slightly out of your comfort zone, then yes cruising is a slightly more expensive way of doing it – but it also makes you feel safe. In addition, cruise ships also offer events in which you and your fellow solo travellers can meet up and get to know each other!
Exploring made easy with a variety of excursions to take part in: while coming at an additional cost, the wide variety of excursions that you can take part in off the ship depending on location and your choice of activity level is extraordinary. While some prefer to explore by themselves, for those who prefer a group activity (and want to ensure that you get back in time for the ship’s departure from port on time) it is a great way to meet new people (another joy of cruising!) and discuss what you have experienced – particularly in the smaller group tours.
Variety of types of cruises available to suit all: no matter what the reason that you are looking to travel via a cruise, there is a cruise that will suit all tastes from more family friendly options or those looking for a bit of glamour or luxury – don’t think that all cruises and ships are the same as they all have something different to offer!
The level of comfort to do as much or as little as you want: cruises are completely flexible in terms of what works best for you. Whether you want to laze by the pool, take in a show, enjoy a mid afternoon snack, take in a show or indulge in a spa treatment there is plenty of options to make the most of on board. Everything has been designed to ensure that you have a relaxing time – no matter how much you want to do, with friendly staff to help ensure you have the best experience possible.
