We chatted to Hannah about starring in Frantic Assembly’s 30th Anniversary production of Lost Atoms, opening at Leicester’s Curve Theatre on the 22nd September.
What can you tell us about ‘Lost Atoms’? ‘Lost Atoms’ is a love story that transcends time and memory. It’s about 2 people coming together to revisit their shared history.
How does it feel to be part of Frantic Assembly’s 30th anniversary’s celebrations? I feel very honoured and proud to be a part of this wonderful milestone for Frantic Assembly. They are a company that mean a great deal to me and have been immensely important to my development as a performer. So I’m very excited to be a part of the celebrations.
What made you want to be part of this production? Well, I always jump at the chance to work with Frantic because I love what they do but this production also offered myself and Joe the opportunity to be involved from the very beginning so we were in all the R&D’s with Scott and Anna, helping to develop these characters, which is a really rare privilege.
What did you take away from the story when you first read it? My first reaction to the story was “oh this is good, this is really really good!” and I loved the idea of remembering, mis-remembering; feelings and memories changing and morphing over time to protect or challenge ones version of events in a relationship.
Could you tell me about your character? Jess is an Artist. She’s extroverted, loud and chaotic, so the complete opposite to Robbie. But she’s also kind and funny and in need of a meaningful connection.
How has it been working on the production so far? So far it’s been intense but so incredibly rewarding. I’ve never been in a two-hander before, Joe and I are literally in every scene and rarely leave the stage. So we have a lot of ground to cover in rehearsals, in a relatively short space of time but where we are right now is so exciting and it feels really good. Things are starting to click into place, sequences are becoming more effortless and fluid and we’re starting to see the shape of it all.
