NEWS: Brown’s Hotel Launches New Suites Inspired by Mayfair’s Musical History

Named Clementi, Clara Dow and Nightingale Suites, each of the specially designed spaces celebrate a unique local musical connection, from a nod to the Italian maestro who called Mayfair home, to a Gilbert and Sullivan soprano star, and a wartime ballad sung by Dame Vera Lynn.

The Clementi Suite and the Clara Dow Suite, which is a creative collaboration between Paolo Moschino Ltd and Olga Polizzi, Rocco Forte Hotels’ Director of Design, draw inspiration from English architect Sir John Soane including classical elements. Meanwhile, The Nightingale Suite has a dreamlike intimacy in its design in tribute to the 1939 song A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square.

For those staying in The Clementi Suite, the space pays homage to Muzio Clementi, the Roman-born composer who made Mayfair his home. Featuring draped fabrics and a palette anchored by Farrow & Ball’s Calke Green, the suite also includes a concealed door offers a nod to Soane’s architectural playfulness and a range of antique details combined with contemporary art offer a balance between the past and the present.

Meanwhile, in contrast to this The Clara Dow Suite pays tribute  to English soprano and star of Gilbert & Sullivan’s operas and features hand crafted San Patrignano wallpaper, decorative cornices and period-inspired details create a theatrical setting.

Finally, The Nightingale Suite revives a wartime ballad sung by Dame Vera Lynn, who was once a a guest of Brown’s Hotel. Throughout the space soft lighting, handwoven rugs, and sculptural sconces create a nostalgic and elegant mood.

Olga Polizzi, Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels shares: “We have created spaces that feel deeply connected – to the building, to Mayfair, and to the people who have shaped it over the years. This project is among the most personal and meaningful we’ve undertaken at Brown’s Hotel.”

These newly launched suites marks the first stage of design refresh at London’s oldest luxury hotel. Over the coming months, further spaces will be reimagined to reflect the same sensibility of heritage, interpreted with a modern eye.

Browns Hotel is comprised of 115  rooms and suites each crafted by Olga Polizzi, with the hotel also offering a range of exquisite dining experiences, including Charlie’s restaurant and The Donovan Bar.
