We chatted to Adrian about starring as Mr Brown in the upcoming world premiere of Paddington the Musical.

Hi Adrian, how does it feel to be part of Paddington the Musical? Excited is an understatement. There’s always a sense of responsibility to honour the
writers extraordinary work, but also to take care of this bear.
What was it that made you want to be part of the production? The team. They are all literally at the top of their game. The moment I first heard Tom’s enchanting music and read Jess’s hilarious script, I was hooked. And with Ellen Kane’s choreography and Luke Sheppard at the helm, I knew this was going to be a very special project.

How would you describe the show? As with the films, tonally it’s pitched perfectly, it is a true family musical. It’s a love letter to London, a city I adore and have lived in for 25 years. It’s hilarious, moving surprising and marmaladey….
What can audiences expect from the musical? I’ve been working on the show for a year and a half, when I first joined the I had high expectations, but it literally blew them out of the water. Audiences can expect a full throttled adventure and I guarantee will leave humming the tunes….
Have you met Paddington himself yet? I have met Paddington, he’s been with us in rehearsals, his notorious love of marmalade is accurate.. I have shared a few sandwiches with him on lunch breaks.
How has it been working on the production so far? It’s been intense, fun and a LOT of laughter.
What are you most looking forward to about performing the show for audiences? When the audience first meet Paddington will be a moment in the theatre they won’t
forget. I still get goosebumps every time we run it. I cannot wait to share this glorious
story, it’s what the world needs right now.
