We chatted to Rosanna about starring as Emily Hobbs in the West End return of Elf the Musical, which begins performances at the Aldwych Theatre on the 28th October.
Hi Rosanna, how does it feel to be part of Elf the Musical? I’m absolutely thrilled! I’m honoured to be part of such a mega talented company, and I’m so excited to help bring a show to life that’s all about uplifting the audience and spreading joy.
What do you love the most about the story? The story has this wonderful undercurrent of optimism and excitement that’s completely irresistible. You can’t help but get swept up in it. And it somehow manages to deliver all the action and spectacle you expect from Elf without losing the beautiful detail and heart in its characters.
How has it been working on the show so far? It’s been such fun watching it all come together. The ensemble are unbelievably talented: singing, dancing, acting… skating! I’m honestly in awe of the energy and creativity in the room. Currently I’m just determined to get through “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” without making a mistake!
What would you say the main appeal of the musical is? The fun of it! This show doesn’t have a cynical bone in its body. It’s a whole-hearted celebration of joy and rediscovering your mischievous inner child. It’s impossible not to leave with a smile on your face.
For those who have yet to experience Elf the musical what can they expect? Expect plenty of laughs, brilliant songs, and some spectacular production numbers that will
absolutely knock your socks off. But there’s also a gorgeous love story at its centre and a
touch of true Christmas magic. It has to be one of the most feel-good musicals in town, and you’ll definitely be humming the songs all the way home!
