NEWS: Park Theatre to Present ‘Gawain and the Green Knight’

It has been announced that the Park Theatre will present Gawain and the Green Knight this December.

Written by Gabriel Fogarty-Graveson and Felix Grainger, who return  to Park Theatre following The Nag’s Head (2023) and Sniff (2024).

Join Gawain, the ultimate office everyman – diligent, dependable, and about as exciting as a stapler – as he prepares to attend the Christmas party of his eccentric workplace, Camelot Corp: a company of knights that offers the best cyber-security service, fit for a king.

Gawain, the long-suffering nine-to-fiver desperate to prove himself, thinks tonight might be his final chance of getting that long-overdue promotion, and more importantly, conjuring up the courage to ask out his workplace crush. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, it turns out, a lot! When a mysterious green figure gatecrashes the party and challenges the employees to a deadly game, it is hard-working Gawain who rises to the challenge. Suddenly he is catapulted from photocopying into a world of adventure, temptation and heroic quests, as he searches for the legendary Green Chapel – and his destiny.

The cast for the production will include: Gabriel Fogarty-Graveson, Felix Grainger, Laura Pujos and Cara Steele.

Co-writer Felix Grainger said, “We are super-excited to return to the Park Theatre, and especially proud to do so with this production. Bringing this remarkable medieval tale into a contemporary setting and sending Gawain on a fantastical journey of self‑discovery has been a joy. We hope audiences will laugh, fall in love with the story, and—as you do when you see an underdog come out on top—leave with a warm, festive glow this Christmas.”

The production is co-directed by Kelly Ann Stewart and Adam Nichols, with the creative team also including: Composer and sound designer Kezia Tomsett, Set and projection designer Simon Nicholas, Costume designer Ciéranne Kennedy-Bell and Stage manager and Lighting Designer Caitlin MacGregor.
