NEWS: Further Casting Confirmed for West End Return of ‘Shadowlands’

It has been announced that Maggie Siff will join the previously announced Hugh Bonneville in Rachel Kavanaugh’s production of William Nicholson’s play Shadowlands.

This production is  adapted from Nicholson’s 1985 television film of the same name which looks as the relationship between C.S. Lewis and Joy Davidman.

C.S. Lewis’s orderly academic life as an Oxford Don is upended by the arrival of the spirited American poet, Joy Davidman. What begins as a meeting of minds becomes an uplifting and powerful journey of love and the fragile beauty of life.

In 1993 the play was adapted into a major feature film directed by Richard Attenborough and starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger, which subsequently won the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film.

Rachel Kavanaugh’s production (also starring Hugh Bonneville), was first seen at the Chichester Festival in 2019.
