We chatted to Jonathan about starring in A Ghost in Your Ear at the Hampstead Theatre.

What can audiences expect from ‘A Ghost in Your Ear’?
Audiences can expect a deeply chilling story told in a brand-new way. Whilst having an
experience of never really know if they can trust what they’re hearing.
What was it that attracted you to being part of this production?
I’ve worked with Max and Ben Ringham before and I saw that they were collaborating with Jamie Armitage. So, I reached out to Jamie and asked him about the show and his plans for it. Jamie mentioned that he would be looking to collaborate on this project and as soon as I hear or see those words, I am straight in and willing to be a part of whatever we are making.
How has it been working on the show so far?
The rehearsals have been flying by so far. The room is so open to ideas, receptive to new
ways and styles of how we can create. The thing that makes it unique is that we are using
headphones in this show so there’s a lot of deep concentration and listening through them which is very new to me.
How have you found the experience of working alongside Jamie Armitage?
Jamie is a fun Director and allows the artist to express themselves. He wants open
communication and in turn you feel like you have a space to create, find, explore and
develop. He is always willing to listen to an idea and play the idea out seeing if it really does have legs and that makes it so refreshing, nothing is shut down, there are no bad ideas which is exciting.
What are you most looking forward to about presenting the show for audiences?
I can’t wait for the audience to sit down with their headphones on and look around in
bewilderment, questioning if they can trust what’s being sonically fed to them or is it just ‘A Ghost in Your Ear’ haha! (I couldn’t resist).
A Ghost in Your Ear will play at the Hampstead Theatre from the 6th December until the 24th January 2026.
