NEWS: Further Casting Confirmed for UK Tour of Double Indemnity

Further cast set to join the previously announced Mischa Barton (making her UK stage debut) in Tom Holloway’s adaptation of James M. Cain’s Double Indemnity.

Best known for her role in The O.C, Barton will play Phyllis Nirdlinger, the central role in James M Cain’s story of crime and deception. Joining her will be Ciarán Owens as Walter Huff, while the role of Keyes will be played by Martin Marquez and the role of Nettie, Waitress, and Usher will be played by Gillian Saker, who also understudies the role of Phyllis Nirdlinger.

Elsewhere, the role of Mr Norton, Nino, and Joe Pete will be played by Joseph Langdon. Mr Nirdlinger, Jack Christholf, and Jackson will be played by Oliver Ryan, and Lola Nirdlinger will be played by Sophia Roberts.

Ensemble members  include Simon Victor who also understudies Keyes, Mr Nirdlinger, Jack Christholf and Jackson, Estelle Cousins who also understudies Lola, Nettie, the Waitress and the Usher and Patrick Fleming who also understudies Walter Huff, Mr.Norton, Nino, and Joe Pete.

The 1943 novel, which then went on to inspire Billy Wilder’s film, follows the story of an insurance salesman whose involvement with the married Phyllis leads to lust, greed and murder.

Following the show’s run in Eastbourne, the production will then travel to: Theatre Royal in Nottingham (10 to 14 February), the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe (17 to 21 February), Richmond Theatre (3 to 7 March), Theatre Royal Brighton (10 to 14 March), the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin (24 to 28 March), the Palace Theatre in Southend (31 March to 4 April), and the Wycombe Swan Theatre (7 to 11 April). The tour continues to the Churchill Theatre in Bromley (21 to 25 April), the Opera House in Manchester (28 April to 2 May), and concludes at the New Theatre in Cardiff (5 to 9 May).

This stage adaptation of Double Indemnity is set to be directed by Oscar Toeman, with further creative team to be announced.
