NEWS: The Outsiders Musical is Coming to the West End

Producers have announced that The Outsiders musical will be heading to London, following on from the news that the Broadway production has recouped its $22 million investment.

The Outsiders originally opened at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York in 2024. It is based on the 1967 novel by S E Hinton and the 1983 film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. It features a book by Adam Rapp and Justin Levine, with music and lyrics by Jamestown Revival and Levine.

In Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1967, Ponyboy Curtis, his best friend Johnny Cade and their Greaser family of ‘outsiders’ battle with their affluent rivals, the Socs. THE OUTSIDERS navigates the complexities of self-discovery as the Greasers dream about who they want to become in a world that may never accept them. With a dynamic original score, THE OUTSIDERS is a story of friendship, family, belonging…and the realization that there is still “lots of good in the world.”

The musical is directed by Danya Taymor and choreographed by Rick and Jeff Kuperman. It has won four Tony Awards in 2024, including Best Musical. To date, it has played over 740 performances and a North American tour is currently in progress.

Details for the London production including cast, theatre and dates have yet to be announced.
