NEWS: Bridge Theatre Announces ‘The Oresteia’ as Next Show

The Bridge Theatre has announced that its next production following on from Into the Woods will be a production of The Oresteia, written and directed by  Simon Stone (after Aeschylus and others).

This new production, created in collaboration with Wouter van Ransbeek, will play in London for nine weeks and officially open on the 14th July.

A contemporary family wakes up in a Greek myth and can’t seem to find a way out of their hellish destiny.

The story follows that of the House of Atreus, where returning conqueror Agamemnon is murdered by his wife Clytemnestra, who is in turn murdered by their son Orestes and is then hunted by the Furies for the crime.

Through his previous work, Simon Stone is known for his distinctive takes on classic material, including his productions of Yerma, Phaedra and last year’s Lady From the Sea which took place at the Bridge Theatre.

While casting has yet to be announced, the creative team will include: set designer Lizzie Clachan, costume designer Mel Page, music by Stefan Gregory, lighting designer Nick Schlieper, and casting director Jessica Ronane.
