It has been confirmed that Anoushka Lucas will release her brand new studio album ‘Make Believe’ on the 26th June. In celebration of the announcement, she has also shared the album’s title track as the lead single, available now.

Following the previously released singles ‘Who Are You To Judge’ and ‘The Man’, ‘Make Believe’ offers a further look into the album’s themes of romantic obsession and the slow work of becoming yourself.

Talking about the album Anoushka Lucas said: “This album is a collection of songs from a period of my life where I was stuck repeating destructive romantic and sexual patterns, repeatedly drawn to unavailable people, to secrecy, to chaos. But even in the middle of all of that, you still have to keep being a daughter, a sister, a colleague, a friend. So you have this weird split between the parts of you that are functioning and the parts of you that aren’t. And in a strange way, those obsessions, those crushes and romantic stories, they’re part of what led me to realise I needed to stop seeing myself in parts, to see that all of it, the good and the bad, is me. And the bad needs love too.”

Anoushka Lucas is best known for her Olivier Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Laurey Williams in Oklahoma! at the Young Vic, and her critically acclaimed debut play Elephant, Anoushka Lucas is an award-winning singer-songwriter, actor and playwright who has been writing songs since the age of fourteen. She first released EPs in 2011 and 2013 before unveiling her debut album Dark Soul in 2019.
