We chatted to Abigail about starring the UK tour of The Karate Kid: The Musical.

Hi Abigail, how does it feel to be making your stage debut?
It feels incredible! I’ve been working towards this dream for a long time, and it feels
unbelievably rewarding and I can’t wait to share this production with audiences across the
UK.
What can audiences expect from the show?
I think there’s something for everyone in this show! Very rarely is that statement completely
true, but I genuinely believe that it fits such a wide range of audiences – from your musical
theatre fans to your OG Karate Kid fans from the film.
Why do you think that audiences continue to resonate with the Karate Kid?
I think the message of the story is timeless, and people love to root for the underdog!
Daniel’s story is about hard work and having trust in yourself, which is something I think a
lot of people can relate to and also want to believe in.
How was it working on the rehearsals ?
Rehearsals were so creative, things were constantly changing as it’s a new version of the
show, so I felt like it was a collaboration and a team effort.
What made you want to be part of The Karate Kid the Musical initially?
The Karate Kid is such an iconic story, I just knew I needed to be a part of this adaptation, I
feel so lucky that I get to be able to bring it to stages across the UK!
What can you tell us about your character Ali?
I think Ali is seriously misunderstood, and I think the musical highlights that and gives her a
voice, something that is trickier to do in a film context, but that I’m glad is able to happen
with the stage version!
What have you enjoyed the most about being part of The Karate Kid the Musical?
I have absolutely loved working with this incredible cast and creative team, every single
person brings 100% and the most amazing energy, it’s a joy to work with!
