It has been announced that Cole Escola will make their West End debut reprising their Tony Award-winning role as Mary Todd Lincoln for a strictly limited 4-week season from the 20th July until the 15th August 2026.

Oh, Mary! is an uproariously dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires abound in this 80-minute one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln, through the lens of an idiot (playwright Cole Escola)

In addition, it has been revealed that Oh, Mary! will now book at the Trafalgar Theatre until the 2nd January 2027.

Cole Escola will be taking over the role of Mary from Catherine Tate, who is currently starring in the production. She is starring alongside Scott Karim, who plays Mary’s Husband. The West End premiere cast also currently features Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher, Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, and Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant.

Casting for the role of Mary Todd Lincoln from Monday 17th August onwards is to be announced.

Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, the show originally opened on Broadway in 2024.

The creative team includes: scenic designer dots, costume designer Holly Pierson, lighting designer Cha See, sound designer and composer Daniel Kluger, sound designer Drew Levy, wig designer Leah J Loukas, props supervisor Addison Heeren, and arranger David Dabbon. Casting is by Stuart Burt.
