With National Oyster Day approaching (5th August 2026), if you are looking to mark the occasion, here’s a few places to think about visiting.
Having been around since 1896, there is no denying that J.Sheekey knows a lot when it comes to sea food. With a wide variety of menus to choose from, it will be difficult to make a choice of what to go for. There is plenty of variety of oysters to choose from, with the restaurant offering high quality surroundings to relax and and enjoy – perfect for a special occasion.
Bentley’s Oyster Bar and Grill :
This historic seafood restaurant based in Mayfair includes on its menu UK and Ireland’s finest Native Oysters alongside British classics with a Bentley’s twist that ensures that guests will leave satisfied. Among the oysters available are Vietnamese Style (Shallot, Ginger, Mirin), Rockefeller (Tarragon, Green Tabasco) and Catalan (Fried Oyster, Chorizo, Roasted Onion).
For those looking for old-fashioned sophistication while enjoying oysters, then you might want to add Scott’s to your list of places to visit. Celebrating the best in sea food, the menu includes plenty of options in this regards including: English Jersey Rocks, Achill Island Rocks, and French Gillardeaus.
For something a little bit more laid back, pay a visit to Sam’s Riverside in Hammersmith. Here you can enjoy Jersey Rocks Oysters (£26 for half a dozen or £52 for a dozen) or Carlingford Lough oysters (£28 for half a dozen or £56 for dozen). All of which are served with mignonette and lemon.
Wright Brothers Battersea Power Station:
If you are looking for a great deal on oysters then you will need to head to the Wright Brothers, based at Battersea Power Station. Every Monday to Friday from 3pm till 6pm, plus Sunday 6pm – 9pm, guests can enjoy oysters for £1! Outside of this guests can also enjoy a house selection of oysters for either £27 (for six) or £49 (for 12).
Head to this restaurant for a full seafood experience! You can choose to eat three, six or twelve fresh Carlingford oysters, all served with shallot vinegar, lemon and Tabasco and pairing perfectly with a glass of English sparkling wine. Or if you want to go beyond the oysters, the menu also includes: TMC prawn toast with sriracha mayo, a classic prawn cocktail or Cornish salt and pepper squid. For the main course, there is The Mayfair Classic – everyone’s favourite dish of fish and chips, with delightful mini pans of tartare sauce, curry sauce and HP gravy.
