We chatted to Tobias about starring as Troy in High School the Musical at the Lowry in Manchester, before heading to London’s Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre.
Hi Tobias, how does it feel to be part of ‘High School Musical’?
It’s an honour really, I loved the movie as a kid so it’s a childhood dream to be part of this show.
What was it that attracted you to being part of the show?
So many things, the creative team, the amazing venues and my love for the films.
It’s going to be exciting to see the story unfold on stage – but do you have any particular musical numbers you like already?
It’s hard to pick a favourite but I love Status Quo, the choreography is amazing. The audiences are going to adore it.
How do you see the character, Troy?
He’s charismatic, passionate, friendly, dedicated and he has a strong moral compass.
Why do you think that audiences are still so fond of High School Musical?
It’s a timeless story really and the message of the show is even more poignant today, I think. Also, the songs are bangers!
What are you most looking forward to about bringing the show to audiences?
I’m excited to show them our new version of this amazing story. A lot is similar, a lot is different but it’s just as energetic, full out and heartfelt as it was before.
