The singer’s first album in over a decade offers the opportunity to revisit some of his previous singles – arranged to how he originally wanted them to sound.

Warm and nostalgic, Peter Andre’s latest album is exactly what you have come to expect from him. Combining pop and soul sounds, there is plenty to be enjoyed on this record, as he revisits some of his previous songs, offering them a new sound to give a new perspective.
Sitting alongside new versions of ‘Insania’ and ‘Mysterious Girl’, are new songs ‘Rock U Right’ , ‘Close To You’ and ‘Island Girl’. All of these new songs fit in perfectly with the familiar material to ensure that the album is a perfect blend of the past with the present – although I don’t know if two slightly different versions of ‘Rock U Right’ is necessary.
Album opener ‘Behind Closed Doors’ sets the tone for the album well. It is hard to resist the blend of disco with pop sounds that really showcases Andre’s vocals well and highlighting how they have matured over the years.
Throughout the record, there is a very much upbeat vibe to it that makes it hard to resist. Particular highlights include ‘All About Us 2.’ with Montell Jordan that is immensely enjoyable to listen to as is the more tropical sounding ‘Island Girl’ with a few nostalgic similarities to ‘Mysterious Girl’ is one of the most playful songs on the album.
Perhaps there is a slight concern that some of the songs start to start to sound similar to ones that have been before musically. ‘Rock U Right’ which although fits in with the tone of the rest of the album just feels as though it is lacking in something to make it stand out a little bit more, while ‘Mysterious Girl 2.0’ comes across as trying too hard to sound radically different to the version we all know and love.
There is of course no denying that there is plenty of warmth and nostalgia on display, yet it is easy to hear that Andre has enjoyed the experience of reworking songs such as ‘Insania’ which comes across as quite celebratory and a refreshing track to listen to. There is also plenty of fun to be had with ‘Flava 2.0’ and ‘All Night All Right’ – both standout tracks.
Legacy is the perfect album for fans to add to their collection, offering a new opportunity to hear some of Andre’s best known songs with a new perspective while offering a hint of the future with brand new material. An easy and entertaining album to listen to from start to finish.
