The new single is taken from the singer’s upcoming album ‘On the Record’, which is set for release on the 6th November.
Gilbert O’Sullivan has now released brand new single ‘It’s Me’ which is the opening track from his forthcoming new album On The Record (released on November 6, via BMG).
The release of the single also coincides with with Gilbert’s 60 Years of Music celebrations, alongside a major UK tour currently underway.
“’It’s Me’ felt like a good way to open the album. It’s got a sort of funky, Steely Dan feel to it, which I really like,” exclaims Gilbert. “There’s a nice chord sequence and a good middle eight – I’ve always liked middle eights that take you somewhere else and then bring you back again. I hope people like it!”
From ‘Nothing Rhymed’, Alone Again (Naturally)’, ‘Clair’ and ‘Get Down’ to three Grammy Award nominations, three Ivor Novello Awards, chart-topping albums and millions of records sold worldwide, Gilbert O’Sullivan has become renowned in the music industry.
His 21st studio album On The Record sees the singer as creative as ever and has been produced by Andy Wright, the album continues the acclaimed partnership established on Driven (2022) and Songbook (2024). Recorded in Eastcote Studios in London with the same musicians who have become an integral part of his recent work, the sessions captured thirteen new songs in just five days.
As well as the new single, the album will also include tracks such as previous single ‘Growing Old Disgracefully’, as well as ‘Is That You? ‘, a duet with Andrea Corr.
Celebrating 60 years in the business as well as the new album, Gilbert O’Sullivan is embarking on his 60 Years of Music Tour, performing songs from an extraordinary catalogue alongside new material from the album. He is joined on the tour by acclaimed guitarist Bill Shanley, with the tour dates as follows:
