We chatted to Stephanie about starring in the Emma Rice Company production of Tristan & Yseult, currently on a UK tour.

How does it feel to be starring in this production of Tristan & Yseult?
I feel extremely lucky to be part of this production. I get to work with some of the
most talented, creative and kind people on a show that I genuinely think is
something very special. There’s music, mayhem, heartbreak, a lot of laughter and a
truly brilliant bunch of people. I’m not sure what more I could ask for really.
How has it been working with Emma Rice on this production?
It is always the most rewarding experience working with Emma, and this production
has been no different. Emma has a special ability to create a room full of joy,
playfulness, and creativity, bringing together a team that, as corny as it might sound,
feels like a family. We work hard, we champion each other, and we’re all proud of
what we do.
What attracted you the most to being part of Tristan & Yseult?
This show has already had such a rich history of performers, creatives and crew
working on it through its many iterations. I love the idea of getting to carry the mantle
and keeping the story going. Being trusted to play the part of Whitehands – which
Emma herself originated – was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.
What can audiences expect from this production?
There is never a dull moment in this production. Audiences can expect to be taken
on a journey that embraces love, heartbreak, and humanity. They’ll be laughing one
minute, weeping the next. There’s also some beautiful music played live throughout
(shout out to Stu Barker – composer extraordinaire).
How do you feel about taking the show out on tour?
I can’t wait to share the show with as many people as possible. Seeing how the show
lands with different audiences in different places is always exciting and something that
keeps us all on our toes. On a personal note, being a parent and touring can be a really
tough thing. Emma and the team offer so much support and continue to prove that
parenting and touring is not only possible but can be genuinely joyful.
