A new production of the classic Sherman Brother’s musical is set to take off at the West Yorkshire Playhouse from the 2nd December before embarking on a UK tour in 2016.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will run at the West Yorkshire Playhouse until 30th January 2016 before beginning a UK tour at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton on 10th February for two weeks.
The musical features the music and lyrics by Richard M Sherman and Robert B Sherman, who are also well known for their work on Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book. Between them, they have won two Academy Awards (as well as nine other nominations), two Grammy Awards and 21 gold and platinum albums.
The film, which was made from Ian Fleming’s classic book has been adapted for the stage by Jeremy Sams, based on the MGM Motion Picture licensed script by Ray Roderick.
This new production will be directed by West Yorkshire Playhouse Artistic Director James Brining and will feature new choreography by Stephen Mear. Cast for the production has yet to be announced.
