Rehearsal images for the first productions in the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company’s season at the Garrick Theatre have been released today as The Winter’s Tale and Harlequinade opens for previews.
The Winter’s Tale will play in repertory alongside Harlequinade/AllOn Her Own at the Garrick Theatre until the 16th January 2016.
The Winter’s Tale is Shakespeare’s tragicomedy of obsession and redemption that has been reimagined in this new production that is co-directed by Rob Ashford and Kenneth Branagh, following their collaboration on Macbeth in Manchester and Manhattan. The production stars Judi Dench, Miranda Raison and Tome Bateman.
Meanwhile the rarely seen comic piece Harlequinade will be performed alongside The Winter’s Tale and will be proceeded every evening with Zoe Wanamaker performing Rattigan’s All On Her Own.
Harlequinade will star Kenneth Branagh and Zoe Wanamaker as part of a theatre company attempting to produce productions of The Winter’s Tale and Romeo & Juliet while the intrigues and secrets of the cast members are revealed with increasingly chaotic consequences. The production will also star Zoe Rainey and Hadley Fraser.
The Winter’s Tale, Harlequinade, All on Her Own, Red Velvet, The Painkiller, Romeo and Juliet and The Entertainer makes up the first season of work to be presented by the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company for the year long season at the Garrick Theatre.
