Preview: Nora Invites @Sadler’s Wells

The world premiere of Nora invites will take place at the Lilian Baylis Studio at Sadler’s Wells on the 26th and 27th November it has been announced.

This new show brings together the dancing talents of Eleanor Sikorski and Flora Wellesley Wesley, who have invited several distinguished dance makers to create work especially for the duo. In this first collaboration, the pair will perform works by Liz Aggiss, acclaimed duo Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion and Simon Tanguy.

Each have come up with three very different pieces of work that showcase different sides to Sikorski and Wesley’s performances.

Aggiss has created Bloody Nora! a story that is filled with competitiveness and hormonal imbalance in which rubbish tracks become cheap laughs and Bach is worse than its bite.

Meanwhile, Burrows and Fargion’s piece titled Eleanor and Flora Music is a brand new translation of Morton Feldman’s For John Cage – the source of their iconic Both Sitting Duet (2002). This latest interpretation reimagines the earlier work as a standing performance, that builds silent music from a landscape of touch.

Finally, Tanguy has worked with Nora to create Digging , a complex score of movement and text that has been used to create a unique portrait of the two women and the world in which they live in.

For those who are interested there is a free post-show talk on Thursday 26th November.
