Based on the 1975 documentary, Grey Gardens is the story of the rise and fall of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s aunt and cousin. The production features music by Scott Frankel and lyrics by Michael Korie and a book by Doug Wright.

The show opens in 1941 at an engagement party at Grey Gardens, the Bouvier’s mansion in East Hampton, Long Island and from then on the story tracks the lives of Edith “Big Edie” Ewing Bouvier Beale (Sheila Hancock) and Edith “Little Edie” Bouvier Beale (Jenna Russell) from American aristocrats to reclusive social outcasts living in such squalid conditions, in a home overrun by cats.

The production arrives at the Southwark Playhouse to mark its European premiere. It has won three Tony awards and was nominated for a further seven, along with 12 Drama Desk awards on Broadway.

Grey Gardens is produced by Danielle Tarento and directed by Thom Southerland, the award-winning team behind Grand Hotel, Titanic, Parade and Mack & Mabel.

These new images come hot on the heels of the video recently released of Jenna Russell performing ‘Another Winter in a Summer Town’.

Grey Gardens is at the Southwark Playhouse from the 2nd January to the 6th February 2016.
