This brand new musical will mark the live debut of the Man-of-Peel, a cult cartoon character from the Dandy and from the hugely popular cartoon series voiced by the Goodies.

This is 29 Acacia Road. And this is Eric Wimp. He’s a schoolboy who leads an amazing double life. For when Eric eats a banana an amazing transformation occurs. Eric is Bananaman. Ever alert for the call to action.

As a unique superhero, he may be handsome but he isn’t exactly the cleverest hero out there. However, with supervillains Doctor Gloom and General Blight attempting world domination – who can we call? Superman’s on holiday, Spiderman’s not picking up – our only option, our very very last option is …Bananaman.

Bananaman first came to life in the Nutty comic in 1980, before transferring to The Dandy and finally moving to The Beano in 2012.  He was also the subject of a TV cartoon that ran between 1983 and 1986 for three series and 40 episodes on the BBC.

Featuring a useless hero plus some clueless villains, Bananaman now aims to catch the attention of a new bunch of Bananaman fans in this new production.

The production will be directed by Fred Perry, written and composed by Leon Parris and choreographed by Grant Murphy. Casting, venue and dates have yet to be confirmed.
