The Wales Millennium Centre will produce its first full-scale original musical Only the Brave , appearing at the venue from the 28th March to the 2nd April it has been confirmed.

Over Easter, the Wales Millennium Centre will present Only the Brave, produced with Soho Theatre, Daniel Sparrow Productions and Birdsong Productions.
Only the Brave is based on the real life stories of men and women who were caught up in the D-Day landings and will star Caroline Sheen, David Thaxton and Neil McDermott.
Directed by Steve Marmion, Artistic Director of London’s Soho Theatre, the show tells the inspirational story of two couples brought together by war, Captain John (Thaxton) and Joy (Sheen) Howard and Lieutenant Denham (McDermott) and Maggie Brotheridge.
The production features a book by Rachel Wagstaff, music by Matthew Brind and lyrics by Steve Marmion.
Olivier award winning actor David Thaxton’s previous credits include roles in the West End productions of Les Miserables and Love Never Dies.
Meanwhile Caroline Sheen also has a strong background in the West End, having performed in the original casts for Mama Mia and The Witches of Eastwick, as well as roles in Les Miserables and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Neil McDermott is currently reprising his role as Ryan Malloy in EastEnders. His theatre credits include Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical, Jean-Michel in La Cage aux Folles, Young Buddy in Follies and Rolf in The Sound of Music.
Composer Matthew Brind is the musical arranger and conductor for X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and America’s Got Talent. His theatre credits include composer for David Walliams’s Mr Stink, musical director for Legally Blonde, and musical supervisor for Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Director and lyricist Steve Marmion’s previous credits include 24 Hour Plays at the Old Vic, Macbeth at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, and Faustus and Edward Gant’s Amazing Feats of Loneliness for Headlong.
