Further casting for the UK tour of Save the Last Dance for Me has been announced for the UK tour which starts at the Theatre Royal Windsor on the 6th April.
Joining the previously announced Antony Costa,Wayne Robinson and Elizabeth Carter will be Lola Saunders, finalist of the 2014 The X Factor who will be making her theatrical debut in the show.
Save the Last Dance for Me follows two teenage sisters through the summer of ’63 as they embark, for the first time without their parents, on a holiday to the seaside. Full of freedom and high spirits they meet a handsome young American who invites them to a dance at the local U.S. Air force base… But young love and holiday romance is never as simple as it sounds, and the sisters soon realise that while the world around them is still watching itself in black and white, life and love can be much more colourful.
From the writers, creators and director of Dreamboats and Petticoats comes a show that takes audiences through the music of the early 1960’s, a time filled with many hits.
Lola Saunders will play Jennifer in her theatrical debut, having come to the public’s attention on the 2014 series of The X Factor reaching as far as the judges houses before being sent home – returning to the live shows as a wildcard.
Elizabeth Carter returns to play the role of Marie, having played the role during the 2013 touring production. She has also previously appeared in Dreamboats and Petticoats (2012 tour) and Dreamboats and Miniskirts (2014/2015 tour).
Wayne Robinson (Curtis) most recently appeared in Kiss Me, Kate (Opera North / National Tour), Thriller (West End/International tour) and In The Heights (Southwark Playhouse). Wayne’s many other theatre credits include Stephen Ward (West End), We Will Rock You (West End) and The Wiz (Birmingham Rep/West Yorkshire Playhouse).
Antony Costa is best known for being a member of the boyband Blue. His previous stage credits include roles in Blood Brothers (West End) and Boogie Nights (UK Tour).
The production is directed by Bill Kenwright, designed by Mark Bailey and features lighting by Tim Oliver, sound by Dan Samson and choreography by Bill Deamer.
