The End of Longing, written and starring Matthew Perry has become the Playhouse Theatre’s most successful play to run at the theatre it has been confirmed.
As it approaches the end of its run on the 14th May, the production directed by Lindsay Posner has had over two million sales, with more than 62,000 tickets sold and 12,000 of those who visited were first time attendees to the world of theatre.
Talking about the news, Matthew Perry said: “It has been amazing bringing my debut play, to the West End. I have loved spending the last four months in London, and receiving such a warm response from audiences to The End of Longing. All of the cast, and I, have enjoyed the laughter and tears from the audience and can’t believe we only have ten days left before its all over! London you’ve been a blast, you’ve not seen the last of me – I will really miss being here and performing for all of you guys!”
The End of Longing also stars Christina Cole (The Magistrate, The Lightening Play), Jennifer Mudge (Into The Woods, Dutchman) and Lloyd Owen (Good People, The Bodyguard). Design is by the 2015 Evening Standard award-winner, Anna Fleischle (Hangmen), with lighting by Lucy Carter and composition and sound by Isobel Waller-Bridge.
Meet Jack, Stephanie, Joseph and Stevie: four lost souls, entering their forties and searching for meaning. After sharing one raucous night together in a downtown Los Angeles bar, their lives become irreversibly entwined in a rollercoaster journey that forces them to confront the darker sides of their relationships.
