First Glimpse…Kenneth Branagh in The Entertainer

The first image of Kenneth Branagh in The Entertainer has been released, in a production that is directed by Rob Ashford and also stars John Hurt.

The final production in the first season of works by the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company at the Garrick Theatre, will run at the venue from the 20th August until the 12th November.

It was also confirmed today that the final Branagh Theatre Live cinema broadcast for the production will be the 27th October (http://www.branaghtheatrelive.com/).

John Osborne’s classic is set against a backdrop of post-war Britain, bringing to life the seedy glamour of the old music halls for an examination of public masks and private torment.

The Entertainer sees John Hurt take to the London stage for the first time in nearly a decade as patriarch Billy Rice, opposite Kenneth Branagh as Archie Rice in Rob Ashford’s production. The cast also includes: Phil Dunster (Graham), Jonah Hauer-King (Frank Rice), Pip Jordan (dancer), Crispin Letts (Brother Bill), Sophie McShera (Jean Rice), Greta Scacchi (Phoebe Rice) and Kate Tydman (dancer).
