The National Theatre has confirmed further casting for Angels in America which will run at the Lyttelton Theatre from May 2017.
Joining the previously announced Andrew Garfield, Denise Gough and Russell Tovey it has been confirmed that Susan Brown, Nathan Lane, James McArdle, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett will also be starring in Tony Kushner’s Angels in America.
Directed by Olivier and Tony award winning director Marianne Elliott, Angels in America is an examination of AIDS and homosexuality in the 1980’s.
Further casting and booking dates for the 2017 revival of the play have yet to be confirmed.
Susan Brown’s previous stage credits include Husbands & Sons and Harper Regan (National Theatre), Good People (Noel Coward Theatre) and is also known for her role as Septa Mordane in Game of Thrones.
Award-winning stage, film and television actor and writer Nathan Lane is best known for his roles as Albert in The Birdcage, Max Bialystock in the musical The Producers and voicing Timon in Disney’s The Lion King. He has won a number of awards for his stage work including two Tony Awards and one Olivier Award for Best Actor in A Musical (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and The Producers).
Meanwhile James McArdle’s previous theatre work includes the title roles in Platonov, and Ivanov (Chichester Festival Theatre and the National Theatre) and Chariots of Fire (Hampstead Theatre and the West End).
Nathan Stewart-Jarrett is best known for his roles as Curtis Donovan in Misfits (E4) and as Ian in Utopia (Channel 4). His theatre work includes The History Boys (tour and West End), Wig Out (Royal Court) and The Pitchfork Disney (Arcola).
Booking dates and final casting has yet to be announced for the 2017 revival production, which will open at the Lyttelton theatre from May next year.
