The Lyric Hammersmith will present a new production of Mark Ravenhill’s Shopping and F*cking, on the 20th anniversary since the play premiered at the Royal Court Theatre.
The theatre has confirmed a new production of Mark Ravenhill’s Shopping and F*cking directed by Sean Holmes, which will complete the Lyric Hammersmith’s Autumn season from the 7th October until the 5th November.
The plot follows three disconnected young adults whose lives have come down to adults whose lives have been reduced to a series of transactions in an emotionally shrink wrapped world. A place where Shopping is sexy and Fucking is a job.
For the production, the theatre’s auditorium will be transformed, with part of the audience seated on the stage – adding an extra intimate experience for the audience.
Talking about this rarely revived play, Mark Ravenhill said: “it’s very exciting that they are reviving my first play Shopping and Fucking, twenty years after it premiered. I’m looking forward to seeing what a new generation of theatre audiences make of the play.”
Casting for the production has yet to be confirmed.
Joining Sean Holmes in the creative team are designs by Jon Bausor and Tal Rosner, costume design by Grace Smart and lighting by Anna Watson.
Shopping and F*cking will play at the Lyric Hammersmith from the 7th October until the 5th November. For more information and to book tickets visit: http://www.lyric.co.uk/whats-on/production/shopping-and-fing/?pes=Main%20House.
