The creative team for the first major London revival of Promises, Promises running at the Southwark Playhouse next year has been confirmed as booking for the production opens.
The Burt Bacharach, Hal David and Neil Simon hit musical opens at the Southwark Playhouse on the 13th January and will run until the 18th February.
Based on Billy Wilder’s film The Apartment, the musical follows Chuck Baxter a junior executive at a New York insurance company, where his mid-town residence makes him popular with the executives bosses – who promise him promotion in order to “entertain” at his apartment. A morally tricky dilemma gets worse for Chuck when he realises his own secret crush, Fran Kubelik, has been invited over to his place for a rendezvous by Chuck’s Manager, JD Sheldrake.
The creative team includes: choreography by Cressida Carré, musical direction by Elliot Davis and director Bronagh Lagan. Casting has yet to be confirmed.
Promises, Promises includes the famous songs: ‘Knowing When To Leave’, ‘Promises, Promises’, ‘Say A Little Prayer For You’, ‘A House Is Not A Home’ and ‘I’ll Never Fall in Love Again’.
This is the first major London revival of the musical for nearly 50 years.
