Final casting for Bronagh Lagan’s production of  the hit Burt Bacharach,Hal David and Neil Simon Broadway musical, running at the Southwark Playhouse from the 13th January until the 18th February has been confirmed.

Based on the Billy Wilder film The Apartment, Promises, Promises  is the story of Chuck Baxter, who is a junior executive at a New York insurance company, whose home makes him popular with the executives bosses – who promise him promotion in order to “entertain” at his apartment. But complications emerge when his own secret crush, Fran Kubelik, has been invited over to his place for a rendezvous by Chuck’s Manager, JD Sheldrake.

This first London production of the musical in twenty years will star Craig Armstrong, Ralph Bogard, Martin Dickinson, John Guerrasio, Charlie Johnson, Daisy Maywood, Natalie Moore-Williams, Lee Ormsby, Paul Robinson, Emily Squibb, Gabriel Vick and Alex Young.

As well as being directed by Bronagh Lagan, the creative team also includes choreography Cressida Carré, set and costume design by Simon Anthony Wells, sound design by Andrew Johnson and is  produced by Aria Entertainment and Senbla.

The musical includes songs such as ‘I Say a Little Prayer’, ‘I’ll Never Fall in Love Again’ and ‘A House is Not a Home’, and was nominated for eight Tony awards in 1969 including Best Musical, winning two for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for Jerry Orbach and Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for Marian Mercer.
