Full casting has been confirmed for the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride & Prejudice, running at the theatre from the 2nd to the 17th September.

Following acclaimed performances in 2013, the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre’s production of Pride & Prejudice returns to the stage, with a cast including Matthew Kelly as Mr Bennet, Tafline Steen as Elizabeth Bennet, Benjamin Dilloway as Mr. Darcy and Doña Croll as Lady Catherine De Bourgh.

Directed by Deborah Bruce, Pride & Prejudice is the final production in the Open Air Theatre’s 2016 season and will then head off on tour. The UK tour will begin at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley, the tour will then visit Norwich, Cambridge, Salford, Leicester, Woking, Truro, Birmingham and Richmond, with further dates in 2017.

The casting announcement today follows the news that Felicity Montagu will be starring in the production as Mrs Bennet.

Pride & Prejudice will be the third Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production to tour the UK, following To Kill a Mockingbird in 2014/2015 and Lord of the Flies in 2015/2016.

As one of the best known and loved novels of all time, Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice follows the fortunes of the Bennet family and their five unmarried daughters. Although a family of modest means, Mr and Mrs Bennet have an opportunity to rise in social status when Mr Bingley and his friend Mr Darcy move into the neighbourhood. But while Mr Bingley takes an interest in the eldest Miss Bennet, Mr Darcy clashes with the second eldest, Elizabeth, unwittingly finding his match.

The creative team for this production of the beloved story includes costume design  by Tom Piper,movement direction is by Siân Williams, Composer is Lillian Henley, Sound Designer is Matt McKenzie for Autograph, Season Associate Director (Voice and Text) is Barbara Houseman and Casting Director is Lotte Hines. It has been adapted for the stage by Simon Reade.
