It has been announced that Jez Butterworth’s new play directed by Sam Mendes will transfer from the Royal Court Theatre to the Gielgud Theatre from the 20th June.

Following an already sold out run at the Royal Court Theatre, it has been confirmed that Jez Butterworth’s The Ferryman will transfer to the Gielgud Theatre from the 20th June until the 7th October.

It has also been announced that Paddy Considine will be joined by Laura Donnelly and Genevieve O’Reilly in the production directed by Sam Mendes.

The cast is also set to include Bríd Brennan, Turlough Convery, Fra Fee, Tom Glynn-Carney, Stuart Graham, Gerard Horan, Carla Langley, Des McAleer, Conor MacNeill, Rob Malone, Dearbhla Molloy, Eugene O’Hare and Niall Wright with the remaining cast yet to be confirmed.

Rural Derry, 1981. The Carney farmhouse is a hive of activity with preparations for the annual harvest.  A day of hard work on the land and a traditional night of feasting and celebrations lie ahead. But this year they will be interrupted by a visitor.

The Ferryman is the sixth Jez Butterworth play to premiere at the Royal Court and is his fourth collaboration with Sonia Friedman Productions.
