Craig Revel-Horwood’s production based on the hit film arrives at the New Victoria Theatre from the 20th to the 25th March.
Starring Alexandra Burke as Deloris Van Cartier and directed and choreographed by Craig Revel-Horwood, Sister Act is based on the original film starring Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith.
The musical tells the story of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier whose life takes a surprising turn when she becomes a witness to a murder. Under witness protection, she hides in the one place no one would think to look – a convent! Being disguised as nun and under watch of the Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she rediscvers her own.
Sister Act features original music by Tony and 8-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast, Newsies, Enchanted) and songs inspired by Motown and disco including the song ‘I Will Follow Him’.
This production features et and costume design by Matthew Wright, lighting design by Richard G Jones, sound design by Richard Brooker and is produced by Jamie Wilson productions.
As well as Alexandra Burke, the cast is set to include: Joanna Francis as ‘Michelle’, Joe Vetch as ‘Eddie’, Karen Mann as ‘Mother Superior’ ,Liz Kitchen as ‘Sister Mary Lazarus’, Aaron Lee Lambert will play ‘Curtis’, Sarah Goggin ‘Sister Mary Robert’, Susannah Van Den Berg ‘Sister Mary Patrick’, Allison Harding ‘Sister Mary Theresa’, Ricky Rojas ‘Pablo’, Samuel Morgan-Grahame as ‘Joey’ and Sandy Grigelis as ‘TJ’. The company also includes Nicola Bryan, Lewis Cochrane, Jennifer Douglas, Aiesha Pease, Sally Peerless and Justin Wilman.
