A parody of show business, Cat (The Play) follows Dave through his turbulent theatrical career, starting from his first role as Jesus’ donkey in the original cast of Jesus Christ Superstar. As dreams of West End acclaim and adulation turn to tatters, Dave offers audiences a comedic fictional insight into the backstage drama, romance and intrigue that led to his dreams of stardom becoming nothing more than a distant ‘Memory’.

Having had a successful runs in  Ireland and at the Leicester Curve, Cat (The Play) arrives in London at the heart of the West End. The show was written by Jamie Beamish and Richard Hardwick. It is directed by Stephen Whitson and choreographed by Richard Jones.

The production will star Gerard McCarthy as Dave, the cat who was sacked from hit musical CATS minutes before opening night. His previous stage credits include roles in The Merry Wives of Windsor (The Globe), Saturday Night Fever (West End), Mamma Mia! (West End), Blue Orange (UK tour) and Beautiful Thing (UK tour).

Cat (The Play) will play at the Ambassador’s Theatre on the 25th and 26th April.
