The Vaults will present the world premiere of this gigantic new comedy from Daniel Clarkson, based on the classic ape story King Kong.

Since the original 1933 film first introduced audiences to the King Kong, countless film makers have taken the story to bigger heights thanks to special effects to impress and terrify audiences.

In this new comedy, Daniel Clarkson takes a different approach with just a cast of five and no special effects to tell this epic story as the cast travel to uncharted waters in search of the Eighth Wonder of the World and set eyes on a gorilla so huge that he instils fear in all who set eyes on him.

Talking about the production Clarkson said: “As a self-confessed cinephile I’m a huge fan of the original 1933 classic King Kong, and have wanted for some time to
reimagine it in all its glory as a spoof comedy for the stage. This has proved to be a fantastic challenge, perhaps even trickier than when I crammed all 7
Harry Potter books into 70 minutes for Potted Potter!”

Cast for the production has yet to be announced, but the creative team will include direction by Owen Lewis, set design by Simon Scullion, costume and prop designs by Sophia Simensky, lighting by Tim Mascall and sound by Sam Clarkson.

King Kong will play at The Vaults from the 22nd June until the 23rd July. For more information and to book tickets visit: https://www.thevaults.london/king-kong
