The Tony and Emmy award-winning actress will appear in a new production of Alexi Kate Campbell’s play, directed by Jamie Lloyd.

Apologia

Running at the Trafalgar Studios from the 29th July, Apologia was the second play to be written by Alexi Kate Campbell, following the Olivier Award winning Pride. It originally ran at the Bush Theatre in 2009.

Kristin Miller is a firebrand liberal matriarch and eminent art historian. A birthday gathering should be a cause for celebration but the cracks in her family relationships are brought to the surface by the recent publication of her memoir. As the evening progresses questions are asked about the sacrifices she has made and about the price paid by those she loves.

Alexi Kate Campbell’s other plays include Sunset at The Villa Thalia at the National Theatre and The Faith Machine at the Royal Court.

This new production of Apologia also marks a return to the Trafalgar Studios for Jamie Lloyd following acclaimed productions of The Maids, The Ruling Class and Macbeth.

Stockard Channing is best known for her role as Rizzo in the 1978 film version of Grease. Her other onscreen credits include The West Wing and has seen her nominated for 13 times for Primetime Emmy Awards. Meanwhile, her work on stage has seen her nominated for seven Tony Awards, including winning the award for Best Actress in a Play for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg in 1985.

Further casting and creative team for the production have yet to be announced.

Apologia will play at the Trafalgar Studios from the 29th July until the 18th November. To book tickets visit: ATG Tickets, Ticketmaster.co.uk, Discount Theatre.com, Theatre Tickets Direct.co.uk, Love Theatre.com, Theatre People.com and UK Tickets.co.uk
