It has been announced that Robert Icke’s production will transfer to the Duke of York’s Theatre from the 13th January 2018.
Having enjoyed a successful run at the Almeida Theatre in 2016, Robert Icke’s production will now transfer to the West End and will see Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams reprising their roles as Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart.
Schiller’s political tragedy takes us behind the scenes of some of British history’s most crucial days. Playing both Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart, Juliet Stevenson (Duet for One) and Lia Williams (Oresteia) trade the play’s central roles, decided at each performance by the toss of a coin.
The production features set and costume design by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting by Jackie Shemesh, sound by Paul Arditti and video by Tim Reid.
After its West End run, the production will then embark on a UK tour, visiting Theatre Royal Bath (4th-14th April), Salford Lowry (17th-21st April) and the Cambridge Arts Theatre (23rd-28th April).
Further casting for the production has yet to be announced.
Mary Stuart will play at the Duke of York’s Theatre from the 13th January 2018 until the 31st March. To book tickets visit: ATG Tickets, Ticketmaster.co.uk and Love Theatre.com,
