Full casting has been confirmed for the West End transfer of Almeida Theatre’s production of Mary Stuart.
Joining the previously announced Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams who play the central roles of Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart, the West End transfer will see Rudi Dharmalingam (Mortimer), David Jonsson (Davison), John Light (Leicester), Carmen Munroe(Kennedy), Eileen Nicholas (Melville) and Daniel Rabin (Kent) reprising their roles.
Meanwhile, joining the cast will be Michael Byrne (Talbot), Christopher Colquhoun (Paulet), Calum Finlay (Aubespine) and Elliot Levey (Burleigh).
Friedrich Schiller’s political tragedy takes us behind the scenes of some of British history’s most crucial days. Playing both Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart, Juliet Stevenson (Hamlet) and Lia Williams (Oresteia) trade the play’s central roles, decided at each performance by a coin toss.
The production which has been adapted and directed by Robert Icke, will play a limited season at the Duke of York’s Theatre before runs at the Theatre Royal Bath, Salford Lowry and Cambridge Arts Theatre.
Mary Stuart features set and costume designs by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting by Jackie Shemesh, sound by Paul Arditti and video by Tim Reid.
