Celebrating the musical’s 50th anniversary, Hair the Musical will arrive at The Vaults from the 4th October.
1967 and HAIR‘s hippie-hood youngsters live as The Tribe, in the East Village of New York: yearning to change the world, questioning authority and the American flag. They are wild, colourful, free, sexually liberated beautiful people who join in protest and song – under the shadow of the Vietnam War.
Directed by Jonathan O’Boyle and transferring to London following a successful run at the Hope Mill Theatre, Hair’s revival is relevant to 2017 – a world that is protesting just as much as in 1967 and captures the spirit of the musical.
Initial casting for the London run includes Daniel Bailey, Adam Dawson, Jessie May Natalie Green, Laura Johnson, Shekina McFarlane, Robert Metson, Liam Ross-Mills, Koryann Stevens and Kirsten Wright – with further casting to be announced.
Hair the Musical features book and lyrics by James Rado and Gerome Ragni, music by Galt MacDermot, choreography by William Whelton, set and costume designs by Maeve Black, sound by Max Perrymen and lighting by Ben M Rogers.
The musical originally opened Off-Broadway in 1967 and features classic songs such as Aquarius, Let the Sun Shine In and Good Morning Star Shine.
Hair the Musical will play at The Vaults from the 4th October until the 13th January 2018. For more information and to book tickets visit: https://www.thevaults.london/hair-the-musical
