This is the debut single from Ms.Mohammed, who also releases her new EP on the 29th September.
Having grown up in a multi-faith family, one that celebrated Christmas, Eid and Divali alike as well as being inspired by the likes of Patti Smith; Courtney Love and Alison Mosshart, Ms. Mohammed is an exciting new artist about to release her new EP Alibi later this month.
Following brief projects that saw the singer appearing at Reading Festival and on Later…with Jools Holland, the London-based artist released a self-titled LP of attitudinal alt-blues as Dana Jade in 2012, earning strong reviews and support slots with the likes of PJ Harvey collaborator, John Parish.
Talking about her debut EP Ms.Mohammed said: “Before I made these songs, I asked myself: what can I bring to the table? My only goal was to make music I hadn’t already heard. I think I managed that.”
Meanwhile, discussing her own unique style of music the singer said: “I had an epiphany at carnival one year,” she explains. “I thought to myself: ‘Well, you’re not PJ Harvey, there’s already one of her; so what are you bringing to the banquet?’ It was a conscious decision on my part to start reclaiming the beats and vibes that sound-tracked my upbringing.”
