Rehearsals have now begun for Patrick Marber’s production of Venus in Fur starring Natalie Dormer and David Oakes. Here’s a glimpse of what has been happening in rehearsals…

Enigmatic actress Vanda Jordan appears unannounced for an audition with director Thomas Novachek. She’s determined to land the leading role in his new production – despite seeming wrong for the part. Over one evening in downtown Manhattan their charged meeting becomes a seductive dance to the end.

Opening for previews at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from the 6th October, David Ives’ dark comedy will make its West End premiere this Autumn starring Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, The Tudors) and David Oakes (Victoria).
The production is directed by Patrick Marber and will run for a strictly limited nine week engagement until the 9th December.

Venus in Fur originally premiered off Broadway in 2010 before transferring to the Manhattan Theatre Club in November 2011 where it received widespread critical acclaim, winning Nina Arianda (Vanda Jordan) the 2012 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Play.
The production features set and costume design by Rob Howell, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, composition and sound by Tom Gibbons.

Venus in Fur will play at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from the 6th October until the 9th December.
