A new live experience based on the classic story by H.G. Wells will arrive at The Vaults from the 6th to the 13th January.

Directed by Elif Knight, the world premiere of The Crystal Egg Live will be a multisensory, multidisciplinary theatrical experience set in 19th Century London.

After watching his father dash into the night, Charley is taken in by Uncle Wace, an eccentric old man who, with his dysfunctional family, runs a curiosity shop in London’s Seven Dials Rookery.

When the body of his father is found in the river, Charley inherits the sole possession found with it – a  crystal egg. Believing the object to be of value, the family plan to sell it quickly and improve their lives. However one night Wace makes a chance discovery about this seemingly innocent item, a discovery that threatens to tear the family apart and plunge the world into a greater danger.

Combining art forms such as light, sound, video, and performance; this production will bring to life the work of H. G. Wells, visionary author of ‘The War of the Worlds’ and ‘The Time Machine’ in a brand new way.

While casting for the production has yet to be announced, the creative team involved includes lighting by Simeon Miller, sound by Ross Kernahan and set design by Jason Kelvin.

The Crystal Egg Live will be performed at The Vaults from the 6th to the 13th January 2018. For more information visit: https://www.thevaults.london/the-crystal-egg
