The full casting for Chicago has been announced ahead of the production’s first performance on the 26th March at the Phoenix Theatre.
Joining the previously announced Cuba Gooding Jr as Billy Flynn, Josefina Gabrielle, Sarah Soetaert and Ruthie Henshall will be Paul Rider as Amos Hart. Paul Rider has previously played Amos in the West End at the Adelphi and Cambridge theatres, and has also appeared in A Woman of No Importance (Vaudeville Theatre) and The Tempest, Cymbeline and Measure for Measure at Shakespeare’s Globe.
The full cast is also set to include Alan Richardson, Michelle Antrobus, Natalie Bennyworth, Nicola Coates, Frances Dee, Zoe Gappy, Emma Harris, Chelsea Labadini, Joanna Rennie, Abramo Ciullo, Francis Foreman, Luke Jarvis, Matt Krzan, Charles Ruhrmund, Todd Talbot, Callum Macdonald, Chris Warner Drake and Matthew Wesley.
Having opened in New York in 1975 and revived in 1996, the musical follows the story of Roxie and Velma – both facing charges of murder and who call on smooth talking lawyer Billy Flynn to get them off the hook as their upcoming trails make the headlines.
Chicago recently celebrated its 21st birthday on Broadway and features songs such as ‘All that Jazz’ and ‘Mr Cellophane’.
